So according to the responses to the previous text, yeah, I was basically on the money. Adicto and adicção are both legit portuguese words but they are slightly more formal and medical-sounding than viciado and vício. Their use in the 12-step program's traditional introduction is most likely as a result of translating from American jargon. Now of course whether or not sex addiction is a real thing is another question. Usually when someone claims to be a sex addict they are trying to make excusea for some egregious lack of decorum. But that's another story.
