O Instagram mostrou-me este anúncio sobre um concerto de Maria Luisa Jobim, a filha do Tom Jobim, que é quase um deus no mundo musical. Ela também canta muito bem, como podem ouvir neste vídeo, e compõe música e toca varios instrumentos.
O seu convidado é o cantor português António Zambujo, cujo nome tem a grafia certa no anúncio, mas nota-se que no site do Jazz Café, tem um chapéu brasileiro em vez do acento agudo português.
Pergunto-me como ocorreu este erro. Será que o realizador dos concertos é brasileiro e não sabe como se escreve em Portugal? Ou os donos da sala de concertos em Londres assumiram que o nome dele se escreve da mesma maneira como Antônio Jobim?
Já falei destes gigantes da música portuguesa, mas para fechar com chave de ouro esta série sobre música portuguesa em Londres, deixa-me lembrar-te que António Zambujo e Miguel Araújo vêm tocar ao Union Chapel, um dos palcos mais bonitos e pacatos de Londres em Julho. Já vimos o Zambujo no mesmo sítio há alguns anos e o Araújo em… hum… noutro sítio qualquer e gostámos de ambos imensamente, portanto estamos muito entusiasmados com a hipótese de ver os dois juntos este ano.
Tiago Nacarato é um homem interessante. Que eu saiba, não é Brasileiro mas tem parentes de lá. Mas apesar de ser portuense… ora bem, basta ouvir o gajo. Soa-te portuense?
O cantautor* vai tocar em Abril no Jazz Café em conjunto com o violonista** nordestino Cainã Cavalcante no mesmo palco aconchegante onde assistimos ao espetáculo de Carolina Deslandes em 2024 e traz mais 2 tugas consigo: Raquel Martins, a guitarrista inovadora que apareceu com a Carolina Deslandes. e Mimi Froes, cujo nome parece necessitar um til mas realmente se escreve assim. Ela participou na segunda temporada da série “Factor X” mas nem sequer terminou no Top 3. Tem muita influencia do jazz e já colaborou com Rui Veloso. Acho a música dela mais divertida e mais ‘tuguesa do que a do Tiago! Seria mal educado ir vê-la mas sair antes de os artistas principais subirem ao palco?

Não confio em David Carreira. Tem ar de um ex-membro duma Boy Band. Fui ouvir umas canções dele no Youtube mas não me agarraram. Se te apetecer ouvir este homem, ele irá fazer as suas boybandices no Lighthouse Theatre daqui a duas semanas.

Além do humorista sobre o qual falei ontem, 2025 promete ser um ano cheio de música portuguesa aqui em Londres portanto decidi resumir as opções numa sequência de blogues. Hoje, viro-me para Ana Moura, uma das fadistas mais famosas nos dias que correm.
Já assistimos a um concerto dela no Barbican Centre em 2016. Aquele palco tem uma reputação de apresentar artistas muito prestigiados. É um sítio onde se encontra alta cultura e arte. Quando voltar à cidade, no dia 13 de Março, ela cantará no Electric Brixton, um espaço mais conhecido por música urbana. Não estou a criticá-la: aquele palco também é, à sua maneira, bastante prestigiado mas pergunto-me se isto representa um novo posicionamento no mundo musical: a sua apresentação é mais “pop” e mais palatável ao mercado internacional. Vê, por exemplo, a faixa mais recente dela, “Desliza“.
Dito isso, a senhora ainda sabe ser fadista, como podes ver neste vídeo!
O humorista Salvador Martinha vai apresentar o seu espectáculo “Super Young Aura” em Londres em Abril. O comediante tem a honra de ser a maior personalidade portuguesa do canal Netflix. Não só foi estrela do primeiro programa português no canal – “Na Ponta da Língua” – mas também tem um papel na série Rabo de Peixe.
Estou muito entusiasmado por assistir ao espectáculo e espero não estar doente, como estava no dia do espectáculo anterior.

Just by pure chance I heard about another two Lusophonic Occurrences here in London this week.
One is the Utopia Film Festival, which started yesterday and goes on till the twelfth. The films look quite serious and not exactly entertaining but if I can shake the lurgy, I might go and see one towards the end of its run.
And the other is a weird one. It’s a brand new international Portuguese literary festival in London, on Saturday the 7th. But hang on, haven’t we already had a brand new international Portuguese literary festival in London, FLILP, in June this year? I mean, I’m grateful for all these international Portuguese literary festivals you’re bringing to my town, but there must be other towns and other countries that need brand new international Portuguese literary festivals!
Anyway, it’s called Letras Lusas Em Londres and it was organised by Alcino Francisco, who I actually met and spoke to at FLILP in June, where he was one of the guests, and bought a copy of his book.
It’s surprisingly hard to find details of the festival though. I can see a few people on Insta refer to it, and even an interview with Alcino himself, but I can’t find an official account for the event on Insta. Alcino Francisco’s own Instagram account is dormant. If I Google the name of the festival, there’s a Facebook page right at the top of the ranking, but when I click on the link I land on some random video clip, so I think the page was deleted. This news article describes it, but there are two links to the organisers’ websites and both of them are deadlinks.* I can see there’s a reasonably full list of guests on this page, but nothing like this glossy publicity materials FLiLP put out in the run-up to their launch. It’s all weirdly hush-hush really. I dug around all over the place. I found another blogger who had done a couple of posts about it, so he must be better informed than I am, but, again, I’m not seeing anything linking to some central place on the Web where the organisers have set out a programme, or what to expect or… Well, anything really. The woman who put together FLiLP seems much better organised, as well as… Ahem… More original.
An old friend of the family has suggested we go together but even if I wasn’t full of cold germs, I don’t think I’d want to trek over there because I’m not even sure it’s actually happening. That’s how bad the lack of information is.
Carolina Deslandes no programa Maluco Beleza (licença aqui)
Como Londrinos, em 2024, estamos a ser mimados . Temos tido tantos espetáculos portugueses para escolher. Recentemente vi nas redes sociais que vai haver mais um concerto de Carolina Deslandes, uma estrela da música pop e da televisão. Vai aparecer no Jazz Café em Outubro. Vou assistir ao concertou e estou a tentar persuadir a minha esposa a vir comigo.
Looking at Guilherme Duarte’s website yesterday, I noticed that he’s actually playing a show here in London later this year. He’s at the Leicester Square Theatre on the fourth of November. I don’t think I’ve seen Portuguese comedians including London dates in their tour schedule before, and I’m not really sure how he’s going to be able to fill the room on a Friday night, but I am definitely going to see that!
A few days later, I have tickets to see Dulce Pontes at Cadogan Hall. That was originally scheduled for 2021.but it was delayed due to covid. November is going to be a good month for Portuguese culture in the capital.

Ciclistas na cidade
Fiz um treino ontem*: andei de bicicleta durante 8 horas. Comecei às 23h e cheguei a meta às 7 desta manhã. Cem quilómetros, sobrinhos! O evento chama-se “Nightrider” (hum… Ciclista noturno?) Gostei imenso, mas as minhas pernas estão tão cansadas e quanto às minhas nádegas… Tanta dor!
Depois do evento, a empresa ofereceu uma sanduíche de fiambre mas foi nojenta. “Que se lixe” pensei eu, atirando-a para o lixo. Fui à procura de algo mais agradável.

Às vezes, quando tomei parte em corridas, os anfitriões arranjam uma empresa fotográfica para tirar fotos oficiais para que os participantes possam comprar fotos do seu momento de glória. Os organizadores da maratona de ciclismo de há uns dias fizeram a mesma coisa mas nos estávamos todos vestidos de capacete e ninguém parece bonito numa coisa dessas. Duvido que vendam muitas.
