O projecto no qual trabalhei durante catorze ou quinze meses já acabou. O cliente ficou feliz com o resultado e eu, afinal, terei a oportunidade de ficar na cama a ler o dia inteiro durante esta semana antes do início do próximo projecto, com mais um cliente que tem sede em Inglaterra no norte (porque é que volto continuamente a trabalhar tão longe de casa? )
Mas não consigo passar a semana inteira a dormir porque tenho que estudar também. Alguém que candidata-se para este emprego deve ter varias aptidões. Na entrevista, fizeram-me perguntas sobre a maioria mas esquecem-se de perguntar sobre um programa especifico da Microsoft que trata de bases de dados. Tive sorte porque confesso que não sei nada disso!. Então, tenho que adquirir esta aptidão rapidamente! Felizmente, existem muitos tutoriais na Internet e até aulas numa sala de aulas aqui em Londres em Julho.
Mas amanhã, não. Amanha, vou ficar em cama com um bom livro…

Something For Nothing
I took part in a free seminar today about learning from mistakes in language learning. I’m sorry to say, I wasn’t wildly impressed. It was given by a teacher who is also a member of the online polyglot scene; a great advocate for the joy of languages who has leveraged her videos and general social media charisma to build her brand and gain new customers at a higher premium. In short, someone I admire in many ways.
I realise of course that a free seminar is bound to include some element of sales pitch but in this case it really swamped the actual educational content which was reduced to a five or ten minute slice between the intro and the epic build up of the self study course. I couldn’t help feeling I’d have been better off reading or writing something.
Ah well, I guess in future I’ll just treat these free things with a bit more skepticism…
